City reminding residents of road safety after $584 speeding ticket

Lloydminster is reminding residents to no speed during the warmer months, after a $584 ticket was issued.

On Saturday, a City Peace Officer pulled over a vehicle travelling 171 km/h in an area where the speed limit was 80 km/h and issued the driver an offence notice, as well as the vehicle, was impounded for seven days. Senior Manager of Public Safety Glenn Alford said in a statement the outcome of this type of driving is preventable and unnecessarily puts residents at risk.

Last year, the City decided they would be taking part in the Vision Zero program, which focuses on eliminating traffic-related deaths and injuries. Alford said despite the City committing to the program, drivers need to do their part to keep the roads safe, especially in the warmer months with increased cyclists and pedestrians.
