Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Wainwright, Vermilion, Provost and Lloydminster.
Temperatures are expected to reach 29 degrees or higher and overnight temperatures are expected to sit at 14 degrees or above. Environment Canada says by Saturday cooler temperatures will prevail and a low-pressure system will bring showers in the area.
Residents should take precautions to protect themselves from the heat by taking breaks from the sun, rescheduling outdoor activities and drinking plenty of water.
