Registration open for Kinettes’ Glow Run

Online registration is openĀ for the Kinettes’ Glow Run that will be raising funds for cystic fibrosis.

The annual run consistsĀ of participants choosing a five kilometre or 10 kilometre run or walk around Bid Miller All Seasons Park.Ā Committee Chair of the Kinettes’ Glow Run Wendy Sydoruk says the run started five years agoĀ in memory of a KinnetteĀ whoĀ passed awayĀ fromĀ cysticĀ fibrosis.

“Four years ago we decided to make it into a glow run just to make it a little more attractive and try to bring in a few more participants.”

In the past, the run usually attracts 100 participants, however this year they are aiming for around 150. Sydoruk says they lowered the costs for students to attract more families. Adult registration is $40 and students are $25 each.

“Each participantĀ receives a headlampĀ to help light the back paths. We do have some milk jugs with glow sticksĀ and some balloons and such that’ll beĀ out on the path, but it does get dark back there so everybody has a headlamp,” says Sydoruk.

Half of the funds raised will go to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada and the other half will go towards community organizations. The walk is not until Friday, September 21 but people can start registering online.
