Wildrose Candidate Danny Hozack questions government’s rollback of charity tax credit

Lloydminster-Vermilion Wildrose Candidate Danny Hozack says that the Prentice government’s budget will be bad for charities.

In the 2015-2016 Alberta budget, the tax credit for charitable donations has been reduced from 21% to 12.75% , a reduction of over 8%.

Hozack says the decrease will reduce charitable giving across the province, while saving the province $90 million.

“The important work performed by all charities is why so many people have been baffled by the Prentice government’s decision to declare economic war on them,” Hozack said.  “In effect, it’s a new tax, not just on charitable giving, but on the charities themselves and on the important work they do.”

He also says that if the Wildrose were elected, they would reverse the decision.

The election is May 5th.
