First WestJet flight to land in Lloydminster

After a delay, the first WestJet flight is set to land in Lloydminster on Thursday.

The City is inviting residents to join Mayor Gerald Aalbers and Council for a special ceremony welcoming WestJet to the Lloydminster Airport. People will be able to watch the flight land after a brief program by the City that will include official greetings.

Westjet announced they would be welcoming flights in and out of the airport in 2017. The initial start date for flights was pushed back from March to June due to agreements between Westjet and Pacific Coastal Airlines still being worked out.

Westjet Link will be using Pacific Coastal Airlines aircraft’s to transport people to the Calgary International Airport. The flight is expected to land at 3:40 p.m.
