Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Scholarships given to 100 high school students

100 graduating high school students, including some in Lashburn, Wilkie and Unity have received scholarships from the Saskatchewan government.

$1,000 scholarships are awarded through the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program that exposes students to trades opportunities. The recipients include a Lashburn High School student interested in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, a Loon Lake student interested in Agriculture Equipment Technician and Macklin’s School student interested in carpentry.

Teachers from schools participating in the program nominate at least one student to receive the SYA scholarship each year. In order for students to use the funding provided they must pursue a career in the trades.

The funding is provided through Saskatchewan’s Innovation and Opportunities Scholarship that has contributed over $1.25 million.
