The celebration is on at Bud Miller Park for Canada day and it holds more than just fireworks.
This Sunday Lloydminster will be hosting a Canada Day event at Bud Miller Park. Canada Day Committee Chair April McCloud says they can’t top last years 150th Canada Day events, but the City is still changing things up.
“We have a very cute children’s cultural performance that we’re looking forward to, they have been working very hard at it. Once the opening ceremonies are over we’re going to be having our biggest attraction which will be the indigo circus and they’re going to be performing three times throughout the afternoon on the main stage.”
The main stage will have live performances throughout the day from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bud Miller Park. There will be other areas holding activities such as a Family Fun Zone, Bioclean adventure zone, We are One No Borders Multicultural showcase and Fireworks to cap off the night at 11 p.m.
McCloud says they’re keeping an eye out for the weather on Sunday and that the fireworks might start a little sooner or later depending.
“The weather isn’t looking super favourable but we do have somebody who is on a weather radar and they kinda keep us informed so be prepared the fireworks might have to start a couple minutes sooner or a couple minutes later but kinda of just stick around.”
The City of Lloydminster Canada Day Committee is offering a free shuttle service every half hour between 11:20a.m.-7:30 p.m. The shuttle will leave from Lloydminster Comprehensive High School and Bud Miller All Seasons Park. Parking will be unavailable at Bud Miller Park but will be accessible at Lakeland College and the Vic Juba Theatre.
During the celebratory long weekend, RCMP are asking that if you plan on drinking find a safe way to your location by way of a designated driver, public transit or taxi services.
