Lloydminster Fire Department reminding people to stay safe during long weekend

As the Canada long weekend approaches, the Lloydminster Fire Department is reminding residents to stay safe.

“So they’ll be lots of people having campfires this weekend we just want to remind people there is no fire ban in Lloydminster, but everyone just to follow the bylaw and be safe while having campfires,” says Fire Chief Jordan Newton.

He adds that a lot of time people will want to set off fireworks to celebrate Canada’s birthday, but it’s against the law.

“There is no permitted fireworks allowed to be set off in the City other than our Canada Day event in Bud Miller Park on July 1.”

The fireworks at the event will start at 11 p.m.
