RMs of Battle River and North Battleford donate to Saskatchewan Hospital campaign

Local RMs have donated money to Saskatchewan hospitals New Beginnings Campaign.

The Rural Municipalities of Battle River and North Battleford have donated $50,000 and $51,138 respectively adding an additional $101,000 to the campaign’s efforts to raise a total of $8 million. The funds raised will be for medical equipment and furnishing the new Saskatchewan Hospital being built in North Battleford.

RM of North Battleford Reeve Dan Bartko says the hospital has a big impact on the local economy and a huge significance on health in the province.

“Council felt it made good sense to support a campaign that will be so positive in our community, both from a healthcare perspective and in terms of economics.”

Fundraising lead Corinne Bernier Delainey says the goal of $8 million has almost been reached.

“To date, our New Beginnings campaign has raised about $6.6 million. We are now more than 85 per cent of the way to our target.”

The greenhouse at the new SHNB will be named in honour of the Battle River and North Battleford rural municipalities, as well as the 27 other RMs that have contributed. The new greenhouse will reportedly be a huge part of Saskatchewan Hospital’s Physical Activity Group Therapies Program for patients.
