PSM Lawyers sponsor Bud Miller Park Centre

PSM Lawyers and the City have created a new partnership in order to maintain the Bud Miller Park Centre for years to come.

On Thursday, both members of the City and PSM gathered at Bud Miller Park to unveil the newly renamed PSM Park Centre. Managing Partner at PSM LLP Scott Polischuk says the law firm has been part of the Lloydminster community since 1934 and this is their way of giving back.

“When the City of Lloydminster raised the opportunity of us supporting such a landmark facility and in such a keynote location as Bud Miller Park we wanted to jump on board right away. This is an incredible facility with an incredible park and I believe it really is the gem and jewel visually and recreationally of Lloydminster.”

The sponsorship agreement will have PSM donating $7,000 each year for the next 10 years to keep up with the maintenance of the building. Polischuk says it’s a good opportunity for businesses to partner with the city for cost sharing of facilities like Park Centre.

“It’s a five-year commitment at minimum. We take care of the signage ourselves and commit financially to support an upkeep of the building that will be renewed with the City of Lloydminster based on their willingness to extend that.”

The facility has been around for over 30 years and Polischuk says that the money will be used for retrofitting the windows and doors, as well as keeping the building current.

Deputy Mayor Glenn Fagnan says this will also help with taxpayers dollars in the long run.

“There’s fewer and fewer government dollars so this is an avenue that has to be taken. We have so little opportunity besides raising taxes to have increases so this is a little bit creative as far as dollars coming in through the general coffers.”

The timeline for the upgrades on the building are undetermined, but the facility will remain open throughout the repairs.
