Colonial days is right around the corner and the Lloydminster Exhibition Association is pulling out all the stops.
The fair will run from July 11th to 14th with the event kicking off with the Colonial Days parade. General Manager of the Exhibition Association Michael Sidoryk says the amount of activities going on at Colonial days is totally worth it for what you pay.
” If you were to go to a concert it will be 30-50 bucks or higher, you take in one monster truck show its 30-50 bucks if you do any bull riding $25 to $50. You know all that in one day you got your concerts, your monster truck and all the other entertainment all for $15.”
Sidoryk says approximately 40,000 visitors come to the fair and that the event brings everyone together inside and out of the community.
“The fair is a place where people come to enjoy, visit, meet their friends, take in some great shows, see some agriculture, get some history and just have good fun. It’s it a meeting place for everyone in the whole region.”
The funds from Colonial Days helps with other projects that the Association throw throughout the year. Sidoryk adds the budget for the event is a big one and entertainment alone is upwards of $200,000.
“We spent pretty close to $180,00 to $200,000 on entertainment alone between all the entertainment that we do. So it’s a big budget to put on this event. It’s close to a three quarter million dollar budget line.”
The Exhibition Association employs around 100 part-time workers throughout the whole fair. Sidoryk says that a few spots are still open for any volunteers who want to help out and can head down the Exhibition office for more details.
