Former MP Ritz to be inducted into Canada’s Agricultural Hall of Fame

Former MP for Battlefords-Lloydminster the Honourable Gerry Ritz is being recognized for his contributions to Canada’s agriculture industry.

Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame announced five new inductees for 2018 last week and on that list is Saskatchewan born Ritz. The former politician served in the Saskatchewan legislature for 20 years with eight of those years as the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

The association says Ritz nomination comes after he expanded market access for the industry, forged international trade deals and pushed for innovation through the Growing Forward program.

Ritz was nominated by the Alberta Wheat Commission Alberta Barley Commission and Canadian Cattleman’s Association.  This year’s induction ceremony will be held in Toronto as part of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
