Lloydminster Fire Department investigates blaze

The Lloydminster Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire.

At noon on Saturday, firefighters were called to a blaze at Southwood Village on 56 Avenue. When they arrived, the blaze was already climbing up the side of the central building to the roof. The blaze was brought under control in 10 minutes, resulting in the loss of 2 apartments, on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

City Hall worked with Avenue Living and Red Cross to find accomodations for the residents while the fire department investigates. It is not yet known how the fire started.
