Pioneer Lodge is being recognized for service to seniors

Pioneer Lodge is one of ten organizations in Alberta nominated for the 2018 Minister’s Senior Service Award. The service award honours Albertans who have bettered the lives of seniors through volunteer work.

The Pioneer Lodge Auxiliary was founded in the mid-1960s and offers a variety of events primarily to seniors. The weekly Shopper’s Cart is one of the services offered by the Auxiliary, offering a small storefront stocked with fresh fruit, batteries, cookies, and other food for residents who cannot get out to shop.

29 individual nominees from across Alberta have also been nominated. Nominees will be honoured Aug, 8, 9 and 10 in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary, respectively
