$1 million LOTTO 6/49 win in North Battleford

Sandra Lee Frank is Saskatchewan’s newest lottery millionaire. Frank won the $1 million guaranteed prize at a No Frills gas bar in North Battleford on the July 28 draw.

“The feeling that washed over me was indescribable,” Frank said. “It’s surreal. You always hope for it, but you never think in a million years it will ever happen to you.”

Frank bought her $14 winning quick pick LOTTO 6/49 ticket for the July 25 and 28 draw. On August 1, she stopped at another gas station to fuel up her vehicle when she realized she had won.

“I scanned it at the ticket checker in the store, and I saw a one with a bunch of zeroes,” she said. “I couldn’t tell right away how much it was. I was pretty sure it was more than $10,000, but I was pretty flustered. I just put the ticket right back in my purse.”

Franks says her main goal with the money is to retire. “I was looking at being able to retire in eight or nine years,” she said. “It’s going to be a lot sooner now.”

She is the eighth resident in Saskatchewan to win a lottery prize of $1 million or more in 2018. There are still three million-dollar prizes waiting to be claimed in the province, including a $1 million Western Max prize won on the June 8 draw.
