Discussion on restoring “Alberta advantage” to take place in Lloydminster

National Post Columnist John Robson is continuing his talks on restoring the “Alberta advantage.” Robson will be in Lloydminster to discuss the financial challenges the province faces, as well as ways to fix them.

He says Alberta doesn’t have a revenue problem, the province has a spending problem.

“It’s time to expect that it’s not due to bad luck or individual turn of events, some unfortunate incident occurring to the price of oil that there’s something structurally wrong with how governments are run in this province and across Canada.”

The talk will include economic challenges in the province, as well as the oil industry and the need for less government. Robson says the economic issues in Alberta effect the rest of the country.

“Alberta has its own particular concerns including the difficulties in the oil industry, which is so important to Alberta, but Alberta’s prosperity is important to all of Canada. When Alberta’s hurting, Canada’s hurting.”

The event held by the Economic Education Association will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Servus Credit Union Lecture Hall at Lakeland College. Robson will also be in Wainwright on Friday at the Prairie Rose room.
