Residents in Recovery to hold open house

Residents in Recovery will be holding an open house to give people a look at the addiction services they will provide in Lloydminster. Their new downtown location will be the meeting spot as they startup their programming.

Program Director Tyler Lorenz says the open house is an opportunity for residents to get an idea of what they’ll be offering the community.

“Residents in Recovery will be doing daily life skills programming in the morning and addiction programming in the afternoon.”

The organization will also offer pre-treatments for sober living and aftercare sober living services for people finishing treatments but still in need of support. Lorenz says the programming will be available at the beginning of September.

Their building will be located in central downtown and is still in the process of renovations. Lorenz says they are looking to put in a couple large boardrooms for peer support meetings and community programming. They hope to get the building fully operational by the end of September.

Lorenz says the need for addiction services is very large in Lloydminster.

“A lot of the people that have been through the shelter system and the court’s systems here have already expressed a lot of interest in our program. I think it’s going to make a huge impact with a lot of people that we see on the streets every day actually now getting help.”

The open house will take place on September 7 at 4804 50th Avenue. The event will be in connection with Recovery Day on September 8 where Residents in Recovery will have two guest speakers discussing their struggle with addictions.
