Deadline to complete 2019 budget survey approaching

The city is pushing to get more residents to fill out an online survey that will help outline priorities for the 2019 municipal budget.

“This survey talks about specific things to budget because the budget affects everybody in the community whether it’s service levels, personal taxes on your property, commercial or residential,” says City Councillor Aaron Buckingham. “It’s really important that we get as much feedback as we can because we need to take that feedback and use it to shape budgets going forward.”

“Your City, Your Dollar” survey will close Friday at 5 p.m. Buckingham says after all the feedback is received council will review a summary of it and use the information to guide their decision making for next year.

The city says they have approximately 500 people who have already taken the survey but are hoping for more.

“The more people that fill out the survey the more we can understand everybody’s needs and expectations that’s what your council should be doing. They should be hearing everybody and using everybody’s opinions to make those decisions.”

Buckingham says the survey should take no longer than five minutes to fill out.
