Synergy donates $20,000 to BBBS

Big Brothers Big Sister of Lloydminster has received a $20,000 donation from Synergy Credit Union. The money will be put towards a purchase of a new van for the organization, as well as enhancing their programming.

BBBS received $10,000 from the credit union through the Concentra Empowering Your Community initiative and Synergy matched Concentra’s donation to reach the $20,000 total.

Currently, there are 42 matches for BBBS and 14 youth in the in-school mentor program. Meanwhile, 32 youth are on the waitlist. Synergy Credit Union Manager of Deposit Support Joanne Freeman said in a statement that the program’s impact on helping mentor youth is a natural fit for the empowering award.

“The youth who are mentored become contributing members in our community. Our staff at Synergy have really embraced BBBS. We have staff members who were big brothers and big sisters and others who are active in fundraising.”
