No charges laid after officer involved in shooting in North Battleford

Saskatchewan RCMP says no criminal charges will be laid in the death of Brydon Whitstone in October 2017 in North Battleford. The results came after an independent, external investigation was completed.

An internal review of the circumstances leading up to and including the death of Whitstone was also completed by RCMP. The review examined whether RCMP policy and procedures were followed.

Police say they will continue to update people on the outcome of the review and address the circumstances around Whitstone’s death. Currently, a Saskatchewan Coroners Service inquest is pending and RCMP says they cannot provide further comment on the matter.

Mounties say they will disclose their members’ role, including investigation steps that were taken during the incident.
