Wainwright resident throws name in the hat for UCP nomination

Eileen Taylor is the 6th candidate in the Vermilion-Lloydminster UCP nomination race.

Taylor is a former teacher and the wife of retiring Battle River-Wainwright UCP MLA Wes Taylor. Taylor says she knows the journey to becoming an MLA after being alongside her husband.

“Living this life for three and a half years with Wes, I understand the importance of the challenges and getting the right person for the position so that we can make sure the government goes forward. Balancing the budget is the most important thing.”

Taylor’s main focuses include balancing the budget, creating jobs and building the economy, reforming the Education System and reducing unnecessary regulation. She believes workers should be the ones to voice where budgets are going wrong.

“We need to find efficiency. There are managers managing managers who manage managers. If we put the emphasis back on the front line workers, they know where the efficiencies are, they know where the money is being wasted.”

Taylor and her husband own four businesses in Wainwright. She hopes the knowledge she has can encourage young entrepreneurs.

“I understand what the challenges are of business owners. The increased regulations is just killing us and the Carbon Tax, we have to get rid of it. It’s sending businesses out of our country.”

Other participants who have announced their entrance into the UCP race include Darrel Howell, Danny Hozack and Garth Rowswell. Taylor says she would like to give hope to the people that the province can get back on track.

“We cannot afford another four years of the NDP program. We have to balance the budget, bring back prosperity and educate our children.”

The 2019 Alberta provincial election will be on May 31 2019, or before.
