Lloydminster RCMP inform the public with Operation Impact

RCMP is focusing on dangerous driving during Thanksgiving weekend.

Operation Impact is a National Traffic Safety Campaign organized by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of the risks of unsafe driving habits. Sgt. Sarah Knelsen says RCMP will focus on the four main causes of collisions this weekend which includes aggressive driving.

“We’re trying to advise the public and enforcing drinking and driving, seatbelt use, cell phone use in order to keep our community safe.”

RCMP Traffic Services will be out on the highways across Saskatchewan educating and enforcing the public on the “Big 4”. Knelsen says drivers can take precautions to ensure they’re driving safely.

“Make sure you have a designated driver, have a safe way to get home. Impaired driving is number one on the list as well as cell phone usage. We are always encouraging the public to refrain from using their cellphone while driving. Seatbelt use, again, we encourage the public to utilize their seatbelts at all time.”
