According to Statistics Canada, unemployment rates for the region that houses Lloydminster has increased by 0.8 per cent in September. The Camrose-Drumheller area is sitting at an unemployment rate of 5.2 per cent, up from August’s 4.4 per cent. Last year, in September the unemployment rate was sitting at 8 per cent.
In Alberta, the unemployment rate also increased by 0.3 per cent to 7 per cent. Meanwhile, in Saskatchewan unemployment decreased to 6.4 per cent from 6.7 per cent in August.
Across Canada, employment rose by 63,000 jobs mainly through part-time jobs. However, the unemployment rate declined by 0.1 per cent to 5.9 per cent.
