Jonathan Gunville pleads guilty in relation to amber alert in North Battleford

A man has pleaded guilty to charges after causing an amber alert in North Battleford. 19-year-old Jonathan Gunville admitted to abandoning a child, theft of a vehicle, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

Last month, a six-year-old girl was sitting in her parent’s running Mercedes outside of a strip mall when Gunville had taken it. The girl was found a few kilometres from where the SUV was stolen. The six-year-old has autism, epilepsy and is non-verbal, she was still in the SUV when it was found 14 hours after the theft.

The case will return to a North Battleford court on January.9 where Gunville will face other charges including abduction and unlawful confinement.
