Bobcats hire new player personnel boss

The Lloydminster Bobcats have quickly built a new foundation halfway through the season with a new player personnel boss.

After parting ways with GM and Head Coach Travis Clayton a couple weeks ago, they hired Nigel Dube to fill the position within days. Right before Clayton’s departure, Director of Player Personnel Dwayne Reinhart had left, a replacement has been found.

On November 16, the Lloydminster Bobcats announced in a press release that Andrew Gilbert is the new Director of Player Personnel. Gilbert has ties to both the AJHL playing for the Brooks Bandits and coach Dube having scouted for him during his time in Camrose. Dube says is excited Gilbert is joining the organization and is committed to the plan moving forward.

“Andrew has a great eye for identifying the players we are looking to bring into our foundation. He understands the importance of the players character and really does his homework and makes sure the values we hold for our organization are met during that time.”

The team also announced the new Director of U.S Scouting is Corey Lonke. He is currently the head coach for the New Prague Trojans high school team in Minnesota. The Bobcats say Lonke has been able to identify numerous players who have gone to play NCAA Division 1 Hockey.

The Lloydminster hockey squad says more scouts will be announced in the near future.
