Elderly man struck, killed crossing North Battleford street

An elderly man was killed in a pedestrian crash in North Battleford Saturday evening. Battleford RCMP says the 61-year-old was crossing the street in the 1600 block of 100th Street around 7 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle.

The driver stayed at the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital. He later passed away from his injuries. His family has been notified and his name has not been released.

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing with the help of the RCMP Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroner Service. There’s no word yet on whether any charges will be laid. Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
