41-year-old man arrested after running from police

Edmonton resident Jeffrey Shaw has been arrested and charged by Wainwright RCMP after stealing a car and running from police.

RCMP says on December 25 Shaw drove away after police tried to complete a traffic stop, Shaw had crashed a stolen Mini Cooper into a tree near a local golf store and left on foot. Police had set up a containment zone while awaiting Police Dog Services. Shortly after, Shaw was arrested without incident.

Wainwright RCMP says a sawed-off shotgun and a large number of drugs was found inside the stolen car. Shaw faces 5 charges including possession of a controlled substance.

The 41-year-old will appear in Wainwright Provincial Court on January 3, 2019.
