Lloyd Rumbolt says the third annual Chip Away Hunger event didn’t turn any heads, but he says they will continue food drive efforts in the future.
The event was held last Saturday by Lloyd’s Limb Service, owned and operated by Rumbolt. The drive asked for food donations in exchange for real Christmas tree’s that could be mulched. The wood chip mulched will end up going back into the community for landscaping.
Rumboldt told MyLloydminsterNow.com that the company raised over 168 pounds of food, which equates to food for 7 people for 21 days according to a Lloydminster Food Bank source. In monetary donations, $12o was raised for the Food bank, which is short of the just over $1,000 raised last year.
The company saw 30 trees chipped, and Rumboldt says the amount of trees and donations are similar to previous years. The owner and operator adds that retailers sold all their trees this year so they were not included in the drive this year. In previous years the retailers made up for the bulk of trees chipped.
