Lloydminster Bobcats acquire new faces ahead of trade deadline

The Lloydminster Bobcats greet new players to the organization and say farewell to others before the trade deadline.

In a statement, The Bobcats have announced the acquisition of 18-year-old defenceman Andrew Smiley and Future Considerations from the Nipawin Hawks for defenceman Zach Ziegler. Ziegler recorded 16 points in 26 games played for the Bobcats this season.

The Cats have also acquired forward Chase Anderson from the Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL in exchange for Future Considerations.

Bobcats former captain, Forward Zach Kaiser and defenceman Reid Irwin were traded to the Sherwood Park Crusaders in exchange for Future Considerations. Kaiser had a 60 point season with the Bobcats in the 2017-2018 season.

Last week, the organization traded 20-year-old Tucker Scantlebury to the Swan Valley Stampeders in return for future considerations.

The Trade Deadline is today at 4:30 PM. All Canadian Junior Hockey League teams must reduce their rosters to not more than 23 players.

More information will be released on the trades once it comes in.
