SIIT Career Centre Battlefords moves locations

The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies Career Centre Battlefords moves into 2019, literally. The facility has recently relocated to 1301 101 Street in North Battleford.

SIIT helps people find jobs and expand their employment with training sessions, resources, job postings and career connections.

Office administrator Deidra Baptiste says even though they have just moved across the street, she believes the new building has a different feel.

“This place has been blessed by an elder. Because we’re first Nations and it’s part of our culture. Even just walking in you just feel it, it feels really nice and really good, really welcoming we’re here to help anybody and everyone who wants that help.”

Baptiste says the institute has a bevy of training, including the Construction Safety Training System, which she says is needed to get into any camp or construction site. The centre also offers Construction Worker Preparation program and the Automotive Service Preparation program, and first aid training among other things. Baptise adds that the institute his open to help everyone, not just First Nations.

“We were staying in the same building as a law firm and they’re expanding so they needed that space. We also needed more space as well,” Bapiste says they have moved across the street from the old building.

Food will be present at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the new facility on February 8,2019 at 10:30 A.M.
