North Battleford RCMP warn residents of phone scam

North Battleford RCMP are warning the public of a scam.

The police say that recently, a man was calling residents in the city, claiming to be a constable with the RCMP. He would tell residents that they are wanted on warrants for unpaid taxes, and that he is also calling on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency. He then tries to collect payment on taxes over the phone.

The RCMP encourage everyone receiving such calls to hang up, and call them immediately at (306) 446-1720 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to report it. Tips can also be submitted online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
