Lloydminster RCMP arrest man wanted on Canada-wide warrant

Lloydminster RCMP have arrested a man on a Canada-wide warrant.

The police say that early in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 19, they received a call from a homeowner, advising that a man was checking backyards in the 5700 block of 47 street. The RCMP searched the area and chased a man they found exiting a home’s back door.

They arrested 20-year-old Austin Eaglechief from Saskatoon, who was wanted on a warrant after his statutory release was revoked. He faces new charges of Break and Enter, Possession of a Firearm Without a License, Resisting Arrest, Mischief and Possession of Stolen Property.

“If the resident did not call the police when something seemed odd, Austin would most likely have not been arrested,” said Constable Grant Kirzinger. “We want to thank that individual for taking action by calling the police and providing us with current and accurate information.”

Eaglechief will appear in court September 1, 2015.
