RCMP members have arrested and charged two with drug possession west of Maidstone. Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, an RCMP “F” Division Traffic Unit member stopped an eastbound vehicle on Highway 16 for illegal window tint.
During the interaction, the RCMP detained the two occupants for a drug investigation. Evidence found led to a lawful search of the vehicle. About 10.5 ounces of methamphetamine was found, as well as Canadian money, a digital scale and multiple cell phones.
Forty-five-year-old Eric Arthur Pemberton from Spruce Grove, Alta. has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00. The passenger, 31-year-old Akol Acuil Piok from Regina, Sask., has also been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00.
Both will be making their first court appearance on Tuesday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lloydminster Provincial Court. The vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was seized.
