“Tarp sale success shows excitement for chuckwagon racing”: Lloyd Exh

The Lloydminster Exhibition is calling the 20th Annual Tarp Sale for the Denham’s Ram Tough 27 CPCA Finals a success.

On Tuesday, 22 wagon tarps were sold to bidders earning a gross of $232,500, which Lloyd Exh says is a considerable increase from last year. Marketing Manager Jackie Tomayer says the success of the tarp sale is a good sign that people are excited about chuckwagon racing.

“We definitely had a full room which bodes well for this falls chuckwagon finals week. We have a lot of activities during that week so we are excited we had so many people here last night take part in the tarp sale, which kind of kicks off the season.”

Tomayer says drivers have already brought horses in to start conditioning. She says the number one concern amongst racers is making sure the horses are safe, happy and healthy before the season kicks off. The CPCA tour will be making stops in 11 cities including North Battleford, Wainwright, and Frog Lake before heading into the finals in Lloydminster.

“It builds that momentum that people are excited and they want to see chuckwagon races here. It also bodes well for if we should have finals or not,” Tomayer believes the tarp sale solidifies that Lloyd Exh can put on a great event in the fall.

During the event, Lloydminster Exhibition announced a new 3 year deal with CPCA to keep the Finals going until at least 2022. Lloydminster will be hosting the finals for the 27th year at the Lloydminster  Exhibition Halstead Downs on August 14-19.
