Lloydminster RCMP arrest 16-year-old after finding materials for explosives

A Lloydminster RCMP search warrant resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old boy for making explosives.

Police say they searched a storage unit last week after receiving information on potential explosives at the 6400 block of 66 Street. The Lloydminster RCMP and the General Investigative Section assisted the explosive unit with the investigation and search of the storage facility. Police found chemicals used to make explosives at the location.

A search warrant was sought out for the 16-year-old’s home where more chemicals were found. RCMP says resources used in the investigation has ensured no threat to public safety. RCMP says they will not release the teen’s name due to his age.
