LPSD Resource Officer PSA focuses on tobacco and alcohol awareness
Lloydminster Public School Division’s School Resource Officer is spreading tobacco and alcohol awareness with recent PSA. Constable Grant Kirzinger says the focus on these products was decided after reviewing issues that students are facing.
“Our goal is to start a conversation. To help parents understand some of the issues or challenges that are facing their students and children.”

Every month Kirzinger and LPSD talk about issues students and parents might face, while also showing resources and information families might use if they’re in need of support. Constable Kirzinger says he engages with students on a number of issues, which includes tobacco and alcohol consumption.
“It’s a great way for students to understand and gain information about the potential harms or certain benefits to certain activities and behaviours.”
On Facebook, LPSD has been posting monthly videos of Kirzinger speaking on subjects to inform parents and youth. Last month, Kirzinger talked about the challenge for students struggling with mental health.
