The Lloydminster and District SPCA is inviting the public to Bark in the Park.
The event features a 2.5 km walk with pet owners and their dogs, and will take place in Bud Miller on Sunday, September 13, as a fundraiser for the SPCA.
Fundraising and Communications Coordinator Anmarie Bailey says the event will also have a pet expo.
“We’re going to have microchipping at a reduced rate, so 25 dollars,” said Bailey, “nail clipping, there will be some vendors, we’re doing pet nutrition, pet education, fun activities for the kids including glitter tattoos… There’s going to be demos, so we’re going to have an agility demo, obedience demo, so lots going on.”
Bailey also says that the event used to go by a different name.
“There was Dog Jog for two years, and then there was a break, so we brought back the event, but we re-branded [it] to Bark in the Park, and we’ve made it a bigger, longer event, so it’s a whole day event, [a] more fun event, more activities. More involved so that people can bring their pets down, bring some friends, and kind of just hang out and have a good day in the park.”
Bailey says the organization is hoping for 300-400 participants.
The event starts at 10 a.m and runs until 4. Registration is $25, and can be done at lloydminsterspca.org.
