Kids will showcase their musical talent at this years Streetfest

The City of Lloydminster is giving young talent a chance to showcase their musical ability at this years Streetfest. The inaugural Lloyd has Talent is giving kids aged 5 to 21 a chance to perform a song in front of a panel of judges with awards to follow for top performers.

Program and Events Manager Cindy Remkimowich says the talent show will add more culture and flare to an already popular summer event.

“I think there is a lot of talent within our city and our community. I see a lot on social media of moms posting of their kids singing at different competitions and I think this will give them another opportunity to showcase to Lloydminster what we have and give them some experience of performing in front of a crowd.”

Rekemowich says anyone is able to submit to be a part of Lloyd has Talent as long as they fit into the age categories. The event will be split into two age categories of 5 to 12 and 13 to 21. Talent can submit a link or copy of their solo or group performance to [email protected] before June 1 in order to be considered for the event.

“I think it will be an ongoing aspect as part of Streetfest. We will definitely see how this year goes but our plan as of right now is to make it an annual event and get some hype around it and get some interest and help it grow from year to year.”

Lloyd has Talent will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM on the main stage. Streetfest is taking place June 22 in downtown Lloydminster.
