Eastbound Highway 16 reopens ahead of schedule

The intersection of 44 street and 47 avenue appears to be open once again. The City announced today the corridor of eastbound Highway 16 has been reopened to motorists and pedestrians following construction work at the intersection.

The closure was part of the city’s 2019 Water and Sewer Replacement Program, a project to replace and upsize water, sanitary and storm sewer mains. Originally it’s completion was slated for July 5 and the City is pleased to see it open before the long weekend. In a statement, the City thanks residents for their patience during the intersection’s closure. In the meantime, 47 avenue is still closed south of the highway from 44 street until 42 street.
