Wilkie residents stop pharmacy thieves

Unity/Wilkie/Macklin RCMP are thanking the public for their help in apprehending two pharmacy thieves.

Late in the evening of Thursday, September 17, two men dressed in black broke into the Wilkie Pharmacy. When the RCMP arrived, they found Wilkie residents holding down a large male suspect as he tried to escape through a broken store window. Meanwhile, another resident had driven his truckto the back of the pharmacy, to block the other suspect from leaving through the back door.

The police arrested 26-year-old Richard Bear of North Battleford, and 24-year-old Joshua Tucker of Cochin, and a third suspect, 25-year-old Angel Bear, who was waiting for the men in a stolen truck. They face charges including break, enter and commit theft, possession of break and enter instruments, and, for the men, wearing a disguise with intent.

The police also say that the men had grabbed around $20,000 – $30,000 worth of drugs from the pharmacy, and would have gotten away with them if not for the actions of Wilkie residents.
