Leak in North Battleford’s water tower repaired

Water pressure in North Battleford should be back to normal following a leak in the city’s water tower. A spokesperson for the city says the leak was caused by corrosion and regular wear and tear typical on a metal structure, and was repaired in a timely fashion by a contractor.

Reports show the water tower sprung a leak on Sunday morning and was spraying water into the street. Residents were advised that they may experience low water pressure as the water level was brought down during repairs. By Monday afternoon, it was announced that the leak had been fixed.

North Battleford’s water tower was first built in 1949. Its water level normally sits at 6.2 metres or a volume of 3,000 cubic metres. The last leak in the city’s water tower was in December of 2012 when crews knocked a large icicle from the side of it.
