Golf Fore the Cure rescheduled for August 20

The second annual Golf Fore the Cure has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, August 20. The event coincides with the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre’s Ladies Night welcoming golfers of all skill levels in the 9-hole charity event.

The event was postponed in July due to rainy weather. Now in its second year, the event is a chance to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. About $5,000 was raised last year with 80 golfers hitting the links. Marty Wheaton, tournament organizer and LGCC Golf Pro, hopes to surpass that record for a cause he values.

“With about 1-in-8 women developing breast cancer, the odds suggest we all know someone who has been diagnosed. With every dollar we contribute, we are supporting a worthy cause to find a cure for breast cancer,” said Wheaton.

The event has registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a shotgun start at 6. Prices range from $25 for a member with cart pass, $35 for a member and $50 for a non-member. Following the event, a social and silent auction will be held by the LGCC. To register, you can call the LGCC Pro Shop at (306) 825-5494.
