RCMP lays dozens of charges in summer sweep

A summer police sweep has resulted in a number of arrests related to drug trafficking. The Lloydminster RCMP, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services and Lloydminster Traffic Services, have laid 48 charges under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Over an investigation running from July to August, police seized various illegal drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. Fifteen people have been charged with trafficking controlled substances. A search warrant was also executed at a residence in Lloydminster where additional methamphetamine and cocaine were seized. Inspector Lee Brachmann, the officer in command of the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment, holds that efforts to reduce crime will continue.
