City Hall breaks silence on contract with former mayor Jeff Mulligan

City Hall has broken their silence onĀ former mayor Jeff Mulligan’s contract with the city.

The former mayor stepped down in August 2013, so that his company, AHHA Moments, could take a consulting contract with the city. Current mayor Rob Saunders held a press conference late Friday afternoon, in which he read aĀ short statement.

“The city has been actively participating in an ongoing RCMP review into the contract between the City of Lloydminster and AHHA Moments Inc,” Saunders said in the statement.Ā “The RCMP review has [been] forwarded to the Alberta Crown Prosecutor’s office, and they have determined that there is no evidence to support any criminal charge against the City of Lloydminster, or AHHA Moments Inc, in this matter, and that this file is now closed. As this was an active RCMP review, the city was not in a position to comment publicly.”

The mayor did not take questions after reading the statement.

CORRECTION:Ā A former version of this story said that Jeff Mulligan awarded himself a consulting contract with the city on his final day in office. That version was found to be inaccurate, and has been changed to its current wording.
