Lone Rock scaring up funds with Haunted House

The Lone Rock community is bringing fright and fear for the hamlet’s haunted house fundraiser.

The haunted house will be in the basement of the Lone Rock Community Hall and hosting a Halloween dance will be on the main floor on October 26. Tickets for the Haunted House are $5 per person and runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lone Rock Community Hall with the dance from 7 to 11 p.m.

Lone Rock Association Secretary Donna Woods says people will be given a glow ring for light as they travel through multiple areas of the house.

“It’s for the kids to have a fun night. It’s for the kids and we want to cheer up the town a little bit and let the adults deal with [the situation.]”

Money raised from the dance and haunted house will go towards the hamlet’s legal fees for their ongoing dispute with the RM of Milton. Woods says they’ve raised half of their $40,000 fee.

“Were hoping that as soon as the court case is done and if goes in our favour then the court costs will hopefully be reimbursed to us and whatever is leftover we’ll donate it to different organizations.”

She says it’s been 9 months since the first court appearance and is waiting for the judge’s decision.
