Lac La Biche RCMP recover over $200K of stolen property

Two men appeared in Lac La Biche court on Monday, October 19, to face stolen gun charges.

The RCMP say an investigation into several thefts in the area led them to three rural properties associated to two local men, where they found 92 stolen long barrel guns, some hidden in the walls of tool sheds. The police say they also found 274 other stolen items, including a flat deck trailer, fuel tanks, generators, compressors, tools, chainsaws and ATVs, for a combined worth of over $200,000.

74-year-old Emile Cadieux and 43-year-old Leroy Rosenkranz were arrested on Friday, October 9, and face charges. Cadieux faces 26 counts of possession of stolen property, while Rosenkranz has been charged with possession of stolen property, trafficking stolen property, break and enter, and trafficking a firearm.

The RCMP say they are currently reviewing theft reports in an attempt to return the stolen property to their rightful owners.
