Lloydminster Bobcats sign local player

The Lloydminster Bobcats have signed a local player.

Lloydminster native Ryan Schoettler has been signed from the Bandit Pipeline Midget AAA Bobcats. The 16-year-old defenceman has had a strong start to the year with the AAA Cats, scoring 1 goal and 3 assists in 6 games. In his first year with the team, Schoettler scored 2 goals and 5 assists in 33 games.

Schoettler made his AJHL debut on Wednesday, October 14, as an affiliated player with the Bobcats, and registered an assist.

“Ryan is a solid, smart defenceman who we expect to make a strong contribution to the Bobcats program in the future,” said Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Gord Thibodeau. “We are excited to welcome Ryan and his family to the Bobcats organization.”

With the signing, Schoettler joins a growing list of local residents to play with the Bobcats, including professional players and prospects Wade Redden, Scott Hartnell, David Dziurzynski, and Brandon Baddock.
