Multiple Sask. detachments catch high-speed driver

North Battleford RCMP and other RCMP teams used a spike belt to catch a speeding driver.

An officer with the Crime Reduction Team noticed a vehicle driving fast heading east towards Saskatoon on Highway 16 on November 10 at 12:50 a.m. The officer pursued the vehicle until it started driving in the westbound lane.

Warman RCMP then put down a spike belt but was unable to catch the suspect who was then seen driving south on Township Road 390.

The description of the vehicle was shared to police detachments in the area and about 10 minutes later, Corman Park Police located it west of Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Police Service Air One found the vehicle travelling on oncoming traffic on Highway 14. At 1:56 a.m., SPS Air One tracked the driver who was seen entering a home.

Police used a loudspeaker and sirens to communicate with the people in the house but did not receive a response.

RCMP officer from North Battleford, Biggar, Warman as well as RCMP Police Dog Services and Corman Park Police entered the residence and found three people inside, including the driver.

Flint James Vayro has been charged with flight, dangerous operation and operating while prohibited in addition to previous assault charges.
