Fire Chief stepping into new role for the city

After five years as Lloydminster’s Fire Chief, Jordan Newton will be taking on a new role for the city.

Newton will be the Manager of Emergency Management Operations for the City of Lloydminster. Newton says he’s always been interested in the fields of emergency management and disaster recovery.

“Serving the Lloydminster Fire Service has been an honour and I will treasure the lessons learned and relationships built over the past 10 years. I look forward to working with our firefighters, police and other emergency management stakeholders in enhancing the safety of our City as the EMO Manager. My career experience and knowledge of this community have positioned me to help make the City of Lloydminster a leader in municipal emergency preparedness.”

City Manager Dion Pollard says they’ve been searching for someone with the proper qualifications and experience and feels fortunate that Chief Newton is stepping up to the role.

On behalf of City Administration, we thank Chief Newton for his years of exemplary service to our Fire Department and look forward to his contributions as the EMO Manager.”

Newton will begin his duties as EMO on December 16, 2019, and will support the Fire Services team through the leadership transition period. Assistant Fire Chief Bill Heesing will serve as Acting Fire Chief until a new permanent Fire Chief is hired.
