Man arrested for multiple armed robberies in North Battleford

A St. Albert man is in custody for robbing businesses with a knife in North Battleford.

At around 4:30 a.m., a lone man threatened staff with a weapon and demanded money from a business on the 1700 block of 100th Street on November 15. He then ran off with a small amount of cash and merchandise. The RCMP received several tips from the public but were not able to identify the suspect and did not make any arrests.

Another robbery occurred on November 20 at 4:30 a.m. where a single man with a knife demanded cash and threatened staff at a business on the 1700 block of 100th Street. The suspect ran off with some money and merchandise.

Later that morning, RCMP located the suspect inside an apartment and arrested him after he attempted to flee on foot. RCMP say the same suspect was responsible for both robberies and the investigation is still ongoing.

Reno Poitras is facing numerous charges including armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and resisting arrest. The 25-year-old will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on November 22.
